When you start crunching numbers and having a good look, for a change, at the figures that you discover along the side of your food packet you may be quite surprised. Hopefully you can do some speedy calculations without needing a calculator however it is generally really challenging to think this way while you’re in a chaotic food store aisle. But, if you’re truly aiming to select foods to avoid high cholesterol you will want to be familiar with what you are purchasing.
1. If the doctor has told you that you have high cholesterol, or have risk factors that mean that you ought to think about cutting your intake of dietary cholesterol, all those figures become really important. There used to be a saying years back, promoted by the appropriate marketing firm, that you should “go to work on an egg.” To paraphrase, you need to boil, poach or perhaps scramble one in the morning. However, do this and you will be above the maximum level of daily cholesterol recommended by the American Heart Association. A sobering idea? As well as having second thoughts in relation to the egg, here are a few other foods to avoid high cholesterol situations:
2. Even though it’s difficult to keep a check on all those cholesterol figures when you are dining out, we all know at this point that the fast food that individuals pick up at a number of the nation’s most prominent restaurants is loaded with cholesterol. When you have a hamburger with fries you have doubled up on your cholesterol, if you may have had that egg for breakfast. See how simple it really is to come off the rails?
3. When you get home safely and securely at the conclusion of the day, you will likely be experiencing food cravings because that cheeseburger might seem to be a long time in the past right now. Maybe you’re thinking about eating a good juicy steak? If it is juicy, the probability is the saturated fat you might be consuming is accumulating those cholesterol points, too.
4. If you selected something out of the box to augment your steak, or something from the freezer in place of fresh vegetables then you had better start to look at the side of your box once more. How much cholesterol do you discover inside? Anything that is packaged or processed needs to be examined.
5. If you’re accustomed to having a dessert right at the end of your dinner, you might be just like most Americans and really enjoy soft ice cream. Just take a glance at how many different varieties and selections you see in the typical supermarket today – it is amazing. This really is among the worst foods it is possible to eat however, when it comes to cholesterol, and not many of us stick to one serving either.
This brings us to a final point. Every one of the calculations on the standard label make reference to one serving. If it is a single cup, ensure that you realize just what a “cup” happens to be. You will find that a lot of us wind up eating a lot more of any given food without acknowledging just what it may do for our diet plan.

How does a nonsurgical cure for cataracts sound? The makers of Can -C eye drops (N-acetylcarnosine) claim to have more than a 80% improvement for all people with cataracts. This is great news for people who want a natural remedy for cataracts and do not want to or cannot have surgery to remove the cataract.
Cataracts are a leading cause of blindness. They can occur at any time in life but and are usually associated with aging. They can be caused by a nutritional disorder such as diabetes or an inflammatory condition of the eye.
Causes of Cataracts
Cataracts are caused by the clouding of the lens of the eye, the part that focuses to allow us to see objects far and near. The clouding is caused by the failure of the body’s antioxidant system to deal with free radicals. Proteins in the lens turn yellow and brown and cloud the vision. This process can occur when there is too much sugar in the blood so they are common in people with diabetes. Low blood calcium levels may also contribute.
If you have progressive blurring of your vision, sensitivity to bright lights or see halos around lights you may have cataracts forming. Stress, poor diet, smoking, drugs, exposure to sunlight chemicals and air pollution may also be linked to the formation of cataracts. Researchers have shown that they may also be due to a lack of Vitamin C, an antioxidant and Vitamin B1 (riboflavin) in the lens of the eye.
Previously the only treatment for cataracts was surgical removal but after much research revolving around the antioxidant L-Carnosine as eye drops the form N-acetylcarnosine was found to be the best way of getting it into the eye.
Can-C treatment
A 1% solution of N-acetylcarnosine (Can-C) dropped into the eye twice a day fights free radicals and you should begin to notice some improvement in your vision in 3 months. It is recommended that you carry on the treatment for at least 6 months.
Nutritional Prevention
You will of course have better results if you have adequate nutrients and antioxidants from a very nutritious diet and avoid stress, smoking, trans fats, rancid fats, chemicals and shield your eyes from bright sunlight.
A diet that is rich in Vitamin C, B1, B6, folic acid and calcium can help. Selenium is needed for the body’s own antioxidant system to function and a deficiency can contribute to the formation of cataracts. Vitamin E and betacarotene are good antioxidants.A diet high in whole grains, fresh fruit and vegetables, beans & lentils, live yoghurt , nuts & seeds will supply these nutrients.
A diet high in green vegetables and especially spinach is good. Try drinking a fresh vegetable juice or Green Smoothie every day. Make sure 60% of the juice is green. Choose from spinach, kale, chard, lettuce, parsley, dandelion, watercress and broccoli. Add apple or blueberries to sweeten.
Eat more watermelon, avocados, asparagus, spinach, tomatoes, broccoli and garlic, good sources of glutathione, an antioxidant that can prevent the progression of cataracts. Last but not least get some exercise every day.
So you see if you have cataracts forming you don’t have to wait until you need surgery. Start using Can-C today. Combined with a good nutritious diet you have a natural remedy for cataracts.

It could be your friend’s birthday party, a wedding, or any other special occasion that fueled your desperate attempt to find some quick tips on how to get rid of acne overnight. Just when all you need is clear and glowing skin, these breakouts appeared without warning, the night before the event. Thankfully, you have just arrived at the right place to find some effective ways on how to get rid of
acne overnight. With simple dubs and wipes, you can pull off a clear and zit-free skin in the morning. Here’s what you should do to make it happen.
Wash your face with warm water. Use a mild cleanser to wash away the oil and dirt residue on your face.
When that is done, it’s time to exfoliate. You want to get rid of the layer of dead skin on your face to help make room for new, clean skin, but you don’t want to scour your face red. A mild facial scrub should be enough. You can even make your own by mixing together sugar, toothpaste – not gel – and a bit of water. Mix them together until you have a paste and gently apply the paste to your face. Massage it into your skin, paying special attention to your problem areas, and then rinse it off with warm water.
Apply a dab of toothpaste (not gel) on the acne area. Leave it for about 15 to 20 minutes then wash it off and pat it your face dry.
You can also use homemade facial masks to help your skin. You can use plain oatmeal to make a mask, since oatmeal is good at absorbing the oils your skin produces and can be easily washed away. Another possibility is using egg whites. But how do egg whites help you get rid of your acne? Eggs contain vitamin A which helps firm your skin, and also has its own exfoliating properties.
Another recommendation to help with single pimples is to wet a cotton ball or pad with rubbing alcohol or eye drops, and gently dab at any swollen, irritated acne.
In addition to alcohol, you may also apply some homemade acne cleansing solutions over the infected area. For instance, you may use a mixture of half teaspoon tomato juice and one teaspoon of honey. This mixture gives you a brilliant cleansing agent that is very effective in curing all kinds of acne. You may also dab apple cider vinegar or hydrogen peroxide over the problem area to help it dry faster.
Another solution that you can dab over the area is that made from natural herbs. Herbs like burdock, sarsaparilla and yellow dock brings your acne into its more manageable state. You can use tea tree oil, mixture or groundnut oil and lime juice or lemon juice and rosewater solutions on your face. Use whichever is available.
It’s also a good idea to remember that nothing makes you feel better like a good night’s sleep. Just don’t sleep on your acne, since the pillowcase can rub against the area and leave it more inflamed and red.
If your acne isn’t completely gone in the morning, try holding ice to the area for a minute or so to reduce the swelling and redness. Then simply conceal it with a mineral based cosmetic. Any concealers or powders made with oil can make your acne worse.
Many prescription medicines, soaps, and creams promise overnight relief. But for those emergencies that leave you needing to know how to get rid of acne overnight, these tips and tricks are not only more cost effective, they are also kinder to your skin than a harsh chemical. Remember that the more severe your outbreak, the longer it will take to heal.
With time, your skin will clear up. All you can do is try to help it along. When looking for answers on how to get rid of acne overnight, remember that your skin is unique and may not respond to some forms of treatment as quickly as you would like. But with these hints, hopefully you’ll see signs of improvement.

Hypnosis and its healing offshoot, hypnotherapy, have always been mired in misconceptions. Some consider them to be some sort of magic while others hesitate to even acknowledge them. Provided below are some general beliefs prevalent about hypnosis, and the real facts behind them.
Hypnosis has no link with any sort of mystical arts. It is a very easy technique, which can be explained easily with the help of psychology and other scientific methods. The genuineness of hypnosis is suspected even by people who have seen it casting its spell on subjects. They believe that the people who have been under hypnosis are mentally not strong enough to withstand the impact of the practitioner. But that is simply not the truth. Hypnosis can in fact work on people who are mentally strong and are trying hard to resist the spell.
That hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness is another misconception that has been circulating for quite some time now. A hypnotized individual is fully awake to what is going on in his surroundings. That person is just in a calm state where the attention spans are very high and the person can receive new inputs easily.
Some scientific findings have claimed that only about 5% of humanity is capable of being hypnotized, which is the third myth on this list. The researchers are somewhat true in their own way, because they attempted hypnotising their subjects by the same hypnosis technique without acknowledging individual differences in nature and disposition. People differ in their characters and personalities, and thus there have to be different hypnosis techniques to fit the temperaments of different individuals.
People also tend to connect hypnosis with meditation. But while hypnosis is a communication technique, meditation is all about a state of mind and generally has nothing to do with communication. The state of trance and the state of hypnosis are entirely different from each other too. Just like meditation, trance is a state of mind, and it is not linked with communication in any manner, whereas the very basis of the hypnosis technique is communication.
A sizeable number of people believe that it is impossible to bring about changes in one’s looks and behaviour through hypnosis training or hypnotherapy. Hypnosis obviously cannot attain something that is abnormal to the body. But it can bring about a development in physical health by altering behavioural patterns like overeating and constant smoking by raising inspiration levels in an individual.
Experiencing hypnotherapy is a fine way to lead a richer and satisfying life, and therefore one must not pay heed to the myths, and go for hypnotic sittings with an unbiased mind.

The weight increases when we burn fewer calories than what we consume through eating and drinking. If we keep our life straight forward and only consume the amount of calories which need, we will never have extra weight.
This makes the weight lose look easy. But it is not so. For some people the greatest problem is to stop eating and yet for others the greatest problem is to utilize those calories which they have consumed through out the day.
The entire weight lose process can be made simple if we do not get involved in the complex and somewhat poor weight lose methods. Most of the times you would see advertisements telling you to lose the excessive weight by using pills or a certain kind of herbal product. These things actually do not help you to lose the weight. They just change your metabolic process and you will have changed eating habits. But again, all of us may not have the same metabolic systems and all of may not need the same changes in the metabolic processes. Also, it is the reason of the excessive weight which may differ from person to person and if you can understand that reason, it will become relatively easy for you to lose the excessive weight.
What you need to do in order to reduce your weight is simple. You will have to come back to the natural life. You will have to consume the food which is closest to its pure form. Eating more vegetables and more fresh fruits will work wonders. Also, regular workout will help you to overcome the problem. Eating less or going on a special diet is not the right approach. You can eat as much as you want and it will not create a problem for you until you are utilizing and burning those calories and you are eating the right kind of food.
You should ideally avoid the food which is rich in fats and carbohydrates. Such food will add to your weight. Make sure that you are not eating too much of sweet and fried things. They are full of fats and carbohydrates and they will make you fat.
One important thing is to mend your sleeping habits and drink as much water as you can. This will also help you to stay fit. You will not be gaining any extra weight. The more you sleep the fewer calories you burn. Also, the muscle mass develops quickly while you sleep. So just take normal sleep and sleep early. Get up early in the morning and go to some park and do some workout. This will help you to lose weight quickly and easily. You will also stay healthier this way.

In a recent study on 60 people with various degrees of prolapsed hemorrhoids, researchers found that an ointment containing the natural remedy Smartweed gave relief to 50% of the sufferers. Smartweed, also known as Pepper Plant, contains natural adrenaline and hamamelis that cause the blood vessels to constrict and the piles to shrink. There are many other products on the market that are sold as a hemorrhoid cure but do they work?
Let’s have a look at what each of them do for the body, how they intend to treat hemorrhoids or piles, and raw truth on most of them.
Creams & Ointments
The first popular type of product that sufferers buy hoping for a hemorrhoid cure is a cream or ointment. These types of products are applied to the outer rectal area and are aimed at soothing the piles. They contain ingredients that help to relax the tissue so that it does not bulge out so much so the hemorrhoid will be less likely to flare up. Some creams contain steroid preparations which weaken the skin.
These are great for some temporary hemorrhoid relief but unfortunately it rarely provides a lasting cure. Your hemorrhoids are practically guaranteed to flare up again.
Suppositories
This next type of product is suppositories. One is inserted inside the back passage (rectum) which has a lubricating effect. They can help to relieve the pain, swelling, itch and irritation of internal piles. They should not be used for longer than 7 days as they can cause damage to anal tissue with longer term use. They work for some but not for others.
Medication
In some cases hemorrhoids are caused by increased pressure in the veins. Some doctors treatit with blood pressure pills to regulate the blood pressure. Once there is less pressure the vein may shrink and become less of a problem. All drugs have side effects and many prefer to find natural remedy.
More drastic treatments
None of these solutions tend to provide a true hemorrhoid cure and people turn to more drastic measures such as ligation (banding) or surgery. Ligation is where elastic bands are applied to the hemorrhoids to cut off the blood supply and it withers and drops off.
Surgical removal (hemorrhoidectomy) tends to be reserved for very severe cases as many complain about intolerable pain and discomfort for some time afterwards and even leakage after bowel movements.
New Natural Hemorrhoid Cure
Fortunately there is a new totally safe natural hemorrhoid cure that has already been tried out by hundreds of people. It amazing because it can work in just a few days. No wonder it is called the H Miracle System. The system includes basically everything you need to cure your piles once and for all. You can even get a free report. Click Here

What is male yeast infection?
A male yeast infection usually refers to a fungal infection at the tip of penis known as Balanitis although it can refer to an infection anywhere in the groin region. It is often referred to as “itchers” because of the intense itching it causes. Other signs of the infection are a white discharge, blisters on the penis, burning and redness. The penis is often swollen particularly after sex.
Yeast is part of the group of organisms called flora that naturally live in harmony on the skin and mucus membranes. They defend the skin against harmful bacteria and stimulate the immune system. Yeast in small, normal numbers are harmless but in certain conditions they can multiply out of control and they become an infection.
How do you get a male yeast infection?
Warm and moist areas are ideal conditions for the growth of yeast and men who are uncircumcised are more likely to get infected because the foreskin of their penis is often moist. Tight and synthetic clothing make the wearer perspire giving the yeast organisms just the conditions they favor. Loose cotton underpants are the best thing to wear to give adequate ventilation.
A common way a man can get a yeast infection is from his partner during intercourse. Vaginal yeast infections are very common in women and the infection gets passed back and forth. If one partner has a yeast infection it is important that both get treated. Condoms that use spermicide have also been blamed for causing the problem.
The use of antibioitics and diets high in sugar and alcohol can encourage the overgrowth of Candida yeast in the intestines which predisposes the person to infections elsewhere on the body. Antibiotics destroy some of the good bacteria that help keep the yeast in check and they start to grow out of control.
How to treat male yeast infection?
The standard medical treatment is with antifungal drugs. Diflucan, a one dose treatment, is reputed to cure the infection quickly but if the conditions that caused the yeast infection in the first place are not improved it can and often does recur.
Sometimes antifungal creams are prescribed but Clotrimaderm for example can have same side effects as the symptoms which is not pleasant. Some men have resorted to antifungal vaginal creams that are used by women. They can work well in treating male yeast infection too.
Natural health remedies for treating the yeast infection:
- Wash the infected area regularly and dry with a clean towel.
- Paint the area with natural yogurt. The bacteria help crown out the yeast and improve the pH of the skin.
- Its also a good idea to eat a small tub of a good live natural yogurt every day for several weeks.
- An alternative is to apply a few drops of diluted Tea Tree oil to the area every day. It is a natural antifungal. You can also put a few drops in a shallow bath.
- Try soaking in a luke warm bath with half cup of vinegar and a half cup of salt for about 20 minutes.
- Use fresh garlic, a natural antifungal, on your food as much as possible or take a low odor capsule.
- Herbal supplements of Oregano or Olive leaf are also effective against yeast.
- Avoid sexual contact until your condition is completely better.
- Avoid sugar, refined carbohydrate foods and alcohol and make sure to include plenty of fresh vegetables and salads. Use natural sugar free dressings.

If you want to keep the bugs away this summer then natural remedies are far safer and just as effective as the the toxic chemicals in over the counter insect repellents. Most commercial insect repellents contain DEET (diethyl-meta-toluamide), a pesticide that enters your blood stream and can cause a number of harmful side effects to your organs.
A study of DEET on rats showed that it caused death of brain cells. The chemical has been proven to enter the bloodstream when applied to the skin and researchers believe that heavy exposure to it or other insecticides can cause headache, loss of memory, fatigue, weakness and muscle and joint pain and shortness of breath in humans. It is one of the toxins that is thought to have contributed to Gulf War Syndrome.
The skins of babies and children are much more absorbent and their developing nervous systems are more vulnerable and particularly susceptible to damage of nerve and other cells. It pays to look for alternatives to chemicals that may be harmful.
A newer alternative chemical insect repellent to DEET is Picardin is advertised as odorless, non toxic, and non-injurious to clothing and tents. It is however classified by the US Environmental Protection Agency as “practically non-toxic”. It apparently does not penetrate the skin. Avon’s Skin So Soft Bug Guard is one of the many products that contain it.
Health conscious people are turning to natural alternatives for themselves and their children to stop the bites.
Natural Alternatives to Toxic DEET
Many aromatic plant oils naturally repel mosquitoes, midges and flies. Many natural products contain a combination of oils such as citronella, rosemary, bergamot, geranium, lemongrass, and peppermint oils. Citronella and oil of lemon eucalyptus are recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC).
Neem oil, pressed from the seeds of the Indian Neem tree is a very powerful insect repellent. Just a hint of its smell seems to keep the insects away and it is particularly effective against malaria mosquitoes.
A UK company has developed Citriodiol® a synthetic version of the oil that is obtained from the eucalyptus citriodora tree. It is registered with the EPA as Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus and known as Mosi-guard in the UK. It has been extensively tested and has been found to be effective against a wide variety of biting insects. It is available in many different countries under different names. Find out here: http://www.citrefine.com/products.html
One problem with natural insect repellents is that they usually have to be applied more frequently than the chemical ones. Lewey’s Eco Blends formerly known as Buzz Off is one that claims to be effective for up to 4 hours. It contains rosemary, thyme, lemongrass, geranium and peppermint.Studies have shown that it is still 94.7% effective after 4 hours and more effective than 6% to 10% DEET.
Make your own spray with these recipes:
5 drops Eucalyptus
2 drops Geranium
4 drops Lemon
1 drop Peppermint
1/4 teaspoon olive oil
3 T. water (distilled if possible)
Pour all ingredients into a 2-ounce spray bottle and shake to blend. Spray on exposed areas of the skin. Re-apply every 2 hours.
Or try this recipe:
20 drops Eucalyptus oil
20 drops Cedarwood oil
10 drops Tea Tree oil
10 drops Geranium oil
2 oz. carrier oil ( such as Jojoba )
Mix together in a 4 oz. container. Apply to skin as needed avoiding the eye area. Keep out of reach of children. Test on a small area of skin for sensitivities .
Protect yourself from insects
Insects are attracted by skin odors and carbon dioxide from exhaled breath. The active ingredients in repellents make the person unattractive for feeding but there are a few other things you can do to help deter them.
- Avoid being outdoors for long stretches at a time when you are hot as you release more carbon dioxide.
- Try not to be outdoors after an intense workout. Vigorous exercise can result in significant lactic acid build-up in your muscles, and lactic acid is a strong attractant of mosquitoes.
- Eating salty foods can also cause you to produce higher-than-normal amounts of lactic acid. Avoid them where possible.
- Perspiration attracts mosquitoes via the chemicals it contains so if you perspire heavily wipe it off regularly.
- Wear light colored clothing as dark clothing attracts the bugs.

Millions of women are plagued with frequent attacks of cystitis, the term used for a bladder infection. The common signs are an urgent need to pass urine and burning or pain while urinating. The usual treatment is antibiotics but many people seeking natural alternatives are finding D-mannose, a natural sugar, has revolutionized the treatment.
Causes of Cystitis
The infection is commonly caused by bacteria from the intestines and although men and boys do get cystitis it is more common in women and girls because of their anatomy. Bacteria are easily introduced into the bladder because the entrance (urethra) is so close to the anus.
Other causes are from infected urine from the kidneys and lack of estrogen in menopausal women making them more prone to bladder infections. Many naturopaths feel that constipation and liver congestion result in toxins being recirculated, overloading the kidneys and irritating the urinary tract. Bacteria should not cause a problem if the body is healthy and strong. A healthy body and and strong immune system will resist and destroy bacteria before they can take hold.
Some of the signs of cystitis are:
- Pain in the lower abdomen
- Need to urinate frequently
- Burning or stinging in bladder after passing urine
Cranberry juice or extract has been a favorite natural remedy for cystitis for a long time but D-mannose is proving to be an even better solution. D-mannose can apparently cure more than 90% of all urinary tract infections (UTI’s) within one or two days. What’s more, women who are prone to repeated infections can take it quite safely as a preventative. It is an ideal natural remedy for children who like it’s sweet taste.
What is D-mannose?
D-mannose is a naturally occurring sugar (glyconutrient) that is similar to glucose which, due to its structure, the body metabolizes differently. Unlike glucose it does not cause an increase in blood sugar so it can safely be taken by diabetiics. It is found in some plants and fruit and occurs naturally in the body.
How does it work?
When d-mannose is absorbed most of it is excreted quickly through the kidneys. In simple terms the bacteria causing the infection bind to the D-mannose in preference to your bladder lining and they are flushed out in the urine. Researchers have shown that it is 10 times more effective than drinking cranberry juice and can cure or vastly improve 90 % of infections in 1 -2 days.
D-mannose is proving to be an excellent natural remedy choice as it does not cause any of the damaging side effects that you get with antibiotics. Good new for people who get frequent UTI’s and have previously had to take numerous courses of antibiotics.
What you can do to prevent cystitis and other UTI
- Drink plenty of water every day
- Eat a healthy alkaline forming diet
- Ensure your bowels work well at least twice a day
- Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and spicy foods that can irritate the bladder.
- Don’t hang on if you feel the need to urinate
- Wipe yourself from front to back to prevent transferring bacteria from the bowel
- Use unscented and undyed toilet paper
- Do not use feminine hygiene sprays
- Look for and use unbleached pant liners and sanitary wear
- Take showers instead of baths
- See an osteopath or chiropractor to make sure your spine is properly aligned.
- Take a good probiotic. It can help urinary tract health.

There has been a huge rise in the problem of infertility in both men and women in recent years. And in spite of all the advances in IVF there are many couples who do not want the emotional strain, the dangerous effects of the unnatural hormones on their bodies or the risk of multiple and premature births. So, understandably they are asking if there is a natural remedy for infertility.
What is infertility?
The medical definition of infertility is the inability to get pregnant after numerous attempts without contraception over a 12 month period. It is called secondary infertility when the couple have already had one pregnancy but are unable to get pregnant a second time. More than half of cases of infertility are a result of female conditions and the rest are caused by male sperm disorders as well as unknown factors.
Causes of infertility
Some of the causes include stress, smoking, excess caffeine, alcohol, poor nutrition, high cholesterol, low thyroid hormone, environmental toxins, polycystic ovaries, endometriosis, infections causing blocked fallopian tubes, overweight and low body weight, and poor quality, quantity and motility or sperm. Fortunately most types of infertility are treatable.
Zinc the fertility nutrient
Statistics at Foresight the organization for preconceptual care in the UK show that many infertile women have too much copper with low zinc and frequently low manganese and selenium as well. When the copper is lowered and zinc is corrected they are able to get pregnant.
In Dr Carl Pfeiffer’s opinion Polycystic Ovaries (PCOS) are due to high copper which drives zinc down. Dr Ellen Grant believed that taking the contraceptive pill could contribute to PCOS. The pill causes the body to retain copper which prevents the absorption of zinc. Once these women were given a diet and supplements to lower copper and increase zinc their ovaries started to work normally again.
Estrogen mimics
Some of the food we eat contains pesticides known as xenoestrogen or estrogen mimics. They act as estrogen in your body and cause havoc with your own hormones. Dioxins, PCB’s, nonyphenols(phthalates), are bad news for your hormonal system and your health. They are thought to be a cause of low sperm count but a poor diet will also lead to weakened or deformed sperm.
Natural Treatment
A number of health practitioners have shown that majority of infertility problems can be overcome with an adjustment in lifestyle and a nutritional diet. Researchers found that about 79% of the couple suffering from infertility have a lower than average intake of antioxidants such as fruits and vegetables.
One study showed that men could improve their sperm count by just increasing their intake of fresh fruit and vegetables. 60% of miscarriages have been linked with defective sperm. The antioxidants Vitamin E and Selenium helps increase sperm motility. Other studies showed that females whose intake included trans-fats from heated or processed oils and other processed food were less likely to get pregnant.
Herbs
Good results have also come from herbs that help to balance the hormones. Chinese herbs that have traditionally been used for infertility have had particularly good success. Even in cases where IVF has failed women have become pregnant after taking Chinese herbs for 5 -6 months.
Pregnancy Miracle
A combination of diet, lifestyle changes and Chinese herbs have overcome the struggle and frustration of infertility for hundreds of women.
Nutritionist and health consultant Lisa Olson overcame her own infertility and got pregnant for the first time after years of trying at the age of 43. She now teaches other women worldwide with a proven 5 step system .
Even if you have blocked tubes, endometriosis or ovarian cysts her unique and powerful fully researched system will get you pregnant quickly without drugs or surgery. It is a complete holistic solution aimed at eliminating the root cause of fertility problems regardless of your age and ensuring you will get pregnant quickly.

Lower back pain is one of the most common complaints that keeps people off work. Back ache, also known as lumbago, is a symptom of a variety of problems in the muscles, ligaments, tendons, nerves or bones of the spine or underlying organs. It is important to get a diagnosis from your doctor if the pain lasts more than 3 days. If the back pain lasts more than 3 months it is called chronic and this is the time that sufferers are desperate to find natural remedies for lasting back pain relief.
The spine consists of 24 small bones, the vertebrae, each cushioned with a disc of cartilage, all held together with ligaments. Muscles are attached to the bones by tendons. The lower part of your back, the lumbar spine, supports the weight of your upper body and is under continual pressure when you are bending, twisting or lifting or if you are overweight.
Cause of lower back pain
Back pain can be caused by muscle spasm, strain or imbalance, loose ligaments or weak muscles allowing excessive movement of the spinal vertebrae or the sacroiliac joint, weak abdominal muscles, damaged or bulging discs, arthritis, poor posture especially while sitting, wearing high heels, heavy lifting, lack of or incorrect exercise and inadequate mattress support.
While many people’s back pain appear to have resulted from a trivial event like bending to pick something up or twisting or stretching for something it is really the last straw in a series of stresses to the spine. Most of the initial pain is due to inflammation which is the body’s response to heal the damage. Consequently doctor’s often advise taking anti-inflammatory drugs for the relief of pain.
Fix the underlying cause to cure the pain
However, in many cases, the lessening of the pain does not result in a cure. This is because the underlying cause has not been fixed. The muscles remain locked in spasm to prevent further damage to the structures and there is not real relief of back pain.
Revolutionary treatment
A team of doctors, physical therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists and personal trainers at The Healthy Back Institute have come up with a revolutionary treatment for curing back pain and sciatica. They have discovered that most back pain is caused by muscle imbalances which lead to compensation and pain.
The natural curves of your spine can become exaggerated through slouching, walking in high heels, overweight or weakening of the muscles. As a result the muscles have to adapt by shortening or lengthening to try to maintain spinal stability. Over time the muscle fibers become hardened and inflexible adding to the problem. The disc is placed under further stress which leads to degeneration.
Their system teaches you how you can asses your specific condition and how to correct it with a series of exercises and stretches. The exercises and stretches that you will perform, are intended to correct the muscle imbalances to get rid of your pain.

The extra cold weather in England this year seems to have brought an increase in cases of chilblains. It’s hard to believe that such tiny things can be so painful or intensely itchy unless you have experienced them. Chilblains usually occur on the toes but can occur on the heels, fingers, face and ears. In extreme cold they can also affect the legs.
Chilblains, also called pernio, occur as a result of the constriction of capillaries (small blood vessels) in the skin in response to the cold. When they are warmed up too quickly they expand more than nearby blood vessels causing blood to leak into the tissues.
They are more common in countries where it is damp as well as cold. They are more prevalent in people who have poor circulation due to smoking, Raynaud’s Disease, arteriosclerosis (narrowing of the arteries) or restriction of circulation due to tight socks and footwear.
Other factors contributing to chilblains are anemia, nutrient deficiencies, hormonal changes, certain drugs such as beta- blockers and damp living conditions. They are common in people who work out side or in cold conditions such as butchers.
They can be caused by warming your skin too quickly after coming in from the cold. For example warming your feet in front of a fire after coming in from the cold.
Chilblains appear red or blue and can be swollen. They can be very tender, itchy, feel tingly or burning and hot to the touch. In severe cases the skin may crack and there is the danger of infection.
Onion is a Natural Remedy
One of the most handy and effective natural remedies is to treat the chilblains with a cut onion. Gently rub the cut side of the onion over the chilblains twice a day. This can quickly relieve itching between the toes.
Some recommend dipping the onion in salt first. Don’t put raw onion on your skin if it is cracked or it is likely to sting. You can try a pulp made from cooked onion instead.
Prevention is better than cure.
Prevention is always better than cure so here are some things you can do to help prevent chilblains.
- Keep your hands and feet warm in cold weather by wearing thick but not tight wool socks and gloves.
- Avoid restricting circulation with tight socks or footwear.
- Improve circulation before going out into the cold with some exercise.
- Allow your hand and feet to warm up gradually without exposing them to fires, or heaters or hot water bottles after being out inthe cold.
- Stop smoking as it interferes with circulation and depletes Vitamin C.
- Taking a supplement of Vitamin C with bioflavanoids can help strengthen the small blood vessels
- A natural supplement of Vitamin E as mixed tocopherols 100 iu twice a day during the winter may help.
- Take a good multivitamin and minerals with at least 25 mg of the B vitamins
- Drink hot ginger tea and use ground ginger, chili and cinnamon in cooking to stimulate circulation.
- Get checked by your doctor for anemia. Only take iron as a supplement if you need it.
If you have severe or recurring chilblains you should see your doctor who can make some checks on your circulation and rule out certain health conditions.

A recent study showed that daily supplements of an extract of soy (soya) beans could prove to be a natural health remedy for asthma. Genistein, a natural plant chemical found in high amounts in soy beans can reduce the inflammation in the airways and improve breathing. This could be good news for millions of asthma sufferers who find that the cold air of winter, and increased incidence of colds and flu causes more frequent attacks.
During an asthma attack the airways become inflamed and constricted, making it harder to breathe. Studies have shown that the more genistein that people have in their diets the less the symptoms. Genistein is an isoflavone that has powerful antioxidant effects. Researchers have discovered that there is an association between a reduced intake of antioxidants and respiratory conditions including asthma.
Triggers
There has been a huge rise in diagnosed cases of asthma in the Western world which most experts believe to be a result of environmental factors, nutrient poor diets, toxic overload and stressful lifestyles. Exposure to environmental pollutants in the air irritate the airways causing them to constrict making breathing difficult. Although many asthmatics are aware of house dust mite, animal hairs, pollen, and cigarette smoke being a possible triggers they are not always aware that food allergies can also trigger asthma and that their diet can play a huge part in lessening symptoms.
Food allergies
These food allergies or sensitivities are not the usual ones that are obvious and occur immediately after the food is eaten as happens for example in peanut allergy. They are more likely to be delayed food allergies where the reaction may occur as long as 48 hours after the food is eaten. The most often implicated foods triggering asthma or inflammation include wheat, dairy products, peanut butter, eggs, seafood and ironically, soy (soya).
A diet high in fresh fruit and vegetables has been shown time and time again to provide the antioxidants that help to reduce the inflammatory condition. One long study showed that asthma can be improved with a vegan diet.
The usual drug treatment focuses on suppressing inflammation without trying to identify the underlying cause. Inflammation can be made worse by the wrong diet and high stress levels. Preservatives, especially sulfites (sulphites) colorings and preservatives should be avoided. A low salt diet can help reduce sensitivity to histamine. Detox therapies have been shown to improve symptoms as the toxic load is reduced.
Other nutrients that can help lessen inflammation and support the immune system are:
- Omega 3 oils (EPA/DHA) – at least 3 grams a day of a pollutant free. high potency fish oil.
- Vitamin C 1000 mg with bioflavanoids a day in divided doses or time release.
- High dose Multi Vitamin with 50 mg B6 and 50 micrograms B12
- A good Multi Mineral with at least 500mg magnesium to help relax the airways and good levels of zinc (15 mg) and selenium (200mcg)
- Astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant that can help.
Key points:
- Follow a diet low in sugar, alcohol, animal fats, hydrogenated fats, processed foods, refined carbohydrates and additives especially sulfites.
- Focus on foods that have an anti-inflammatory effect such as oily fish that are low in mercury, seeds, flax oil, onions and garlic
- Eat more fruit and vegetables and use whole grains.
- Get tested for IgG food intolerance or do a FACT test.
- Avoid food that you react to.
- Avoid chemicals in the home and use natural personal care products
- Use turmeric and ginger in cooking that help reduce allergic reactions
- Try taking genistein, as soy isoflavones if you are not allergic to soy.
- Follow a full detox programe several times a year and do mini detoxes in between.
- Avoid stress as much as possible and practice relaxation or yoga.
Medicine can play an important part in treating and saving lives in severe cases of Asthma but the condition does not have to be a life sentence. There is much that can be done to improve it with alternative therapies. More and more research like that into genistein show that there are many natural health remedies that can bring relief to asthma sufferers.

Doctors at Belfast City Hospital, Ireland, recently reported the case of a young girl whose hand warts were cured with the Natural Health Remedy Tea Tree Oil. The warts had completely disappeared in only 12 days after the Tea Tree Oil was applied to them daily.
Tea Tree Oil is derived from the Australian tree Melaleuca Alterfolia and is noted for its anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties. There is not much scientific evidence that it can eradicate the Human Papillovirus that causes warts although a study for the Australian Government in 2005 confirmed that the oil had significant anti-viral activity.
Warts are small growths of the top layer of skin or mucous membrane and caused by a local virus. The virus infects the skin cells if there is break in the outer protective layer and causes them to multiply. The growths appear as round, hard, dome shaped thickened areas of skin and may be isolated or appear in clusters.
Warts can occur anywhere on the body including the face, tongue, throat, hands, soles of the feet (plantar warts) and genital areas. They are very common in children and young adults due to their immature immune systems but can occur at any age.
Tea Tree Oil is used extensively in shampoos, skin preparations, toothpastes and household products because of its antiseptic properties. People have used it to treat acne, spots on the skin, boils, athlete’s foot, gingivitis, insect bites, ringworm, impetigo and infections of the nail bed and vagina.
Although the essential oil is very safe to use and can be used neat on the skin Australian dermatologists commonly see cases of allergic contact dermatitis to Tea Tree. If you have a sensitive skin it is best to dilute the oil 50/50 with almond oil or aloe vera gel. If it causes any skin irritation then stop using it.
According to reports I have seen on forums not everyone has had success with using Tea Tree oil for warts. Results may take weeks if not months and it is important to apply the oil every day.
Types of warts
- Common warts. Usually found on fingers, hands, knees, and elbows. They have a rough raised surface that may look like the head of a cauliflower, with black dots inside. The dots are just tiny blood vessels.
- Flat warts, also called juvenile warts. These vary in size but are usually quite small, are smoother than other kinds of warts, have flat tops and may itch. Flat warts may be pink, light brown, or yellow. Often grow on the face or backs of hands but can grow in other areas and can appear in clusters.
- Filiform warts. These have a finger-like projections, are usually flesh-colored, and often grow on the scalp, face and neck.
- Plantar warts. Found on the bottom of the foot. Can appear to be growing into the skin from the constant pressure on them. Plantar warts can be very uncomfortable – like walking on a small stone and may look like a yellow callus.
- Genital warts – occur in the genital areas. The warts are usually softer and can grow rapidly into cauliflower like shapes and may form clusters. They can itch and can be very troublesome if they grow in the vagina or on the cervix, the neck of the womb.
Can Warts Be Prevented?
Although there’s no way to prevent warts, it’s always a good idea to encourage kids to wash their hands and skin regularly and well. If your child cuts or scratches his or her skin, be sure to use soap and water to clean the area because open wounds are more susceptible to warts and other infections.
It’s also wise to have your child wear waterproof sandals or flip-flops in public showers, locker rooms, and around public pools (this can help protect against plantar warts and other infections, like athlete’s foot, too).
How Long Do Warts Last?
About 25% of warts are gone in about 6 months without treatment, but most go away in 2 to 3 years. With treatment, warts may be removed more quickly, but can return if the virus isn’t completely removed from the skin.
Alternative Natural Health Remedy
If you don’t have success with Tea Tree Oil you might like to try another natural health remedy that Chris Gibson used to get rid of his warts & moles very quickly. Chris shares about his own personal experiences of trying to have them removed with mainstream procedures 90% of the population uses without long-term results. His ALL NATURAL method works to warts & moles, or skin tags permanently. Click Here

Although researchers have shown before that natural unsalted pistachio nuts can be used as a natural health remedy to lower cholesterol some recent research sheds more light on how they do it.
The scientists studied the effects of three cholesterol-lowering diets one without pistachios and two with varied levels of pistachios for 4 weeks each. The cholesterol lowering diet known as Step 1 recommended by the American Heart Association (AMA) was used.
The participants began the study by eating a typical American diet consisting of 35% total fat and 11% saturated fat for two weeks. The best results came from a diet where 20 percent of the energy supplied by pistachio nuts.
The diet had 34 percent total fat and 8 percent saturated fat. The researchers found that the nuts decreased Stearoyl CoA Desaturase (SCD), an important enzyme involved in cholesterol metabolism.”
Pistachios contain high amounts of mono-unsaturated fatty acids which is a natural health remedy that decreases LDL, the “bad” cholesterol and increases HDL, the “good” cholesterol. LDL (low density lipoprotein) is the substance that carries cholesterol through the blood stream.
If too much LDL cholesterol circulates, it can gradually build up in the walls of the arteries clogging them. About a third of blood cholesterol is carried by HDL (high density lipoprotein) which carries cholesterol away from the arteries and back to the liver, where it’s eliminated from the body.
Of all nuts pistachios contain higher levels of the antioxidant lutein which is natural health remedy that helps prevent cholesterol from clogging up arteries. Compared with other nuts pistachios nuts also have a relatively low calorie value are high in fiber and low in saturated fat.
Researchers say pistachio nuts significantly lower the risk of heart disease and appear to lower cholesterol and keep arteries healthy if they are eaten as part of a healthy cholesterol lowering diet. Don’t expect to be able to add handfuls of pistachios to a diet of burgers, pizza and fries and lower your cholesterol. Eat them in place of other high fat foods and make sure they are unsalted and have no added oils.
Because they are high in fat they can easily go rancid if not stored in a cool dark place. The nuts will be more protected if they are in shells.
However there is a lot of controversy over the part cholesterol has to play in heart disease. There are people with high cholesterol levels who never have a heart attack. 60-70% of all blood cholesterol comes from production by the liver, not from pre-formed cholesterol in the foods.
The body produces cholesterol as its needed. We cannot live without it. Every cell in your body contains cholesterol as part of its structure. Many of your hormones are made from cholesterol.
There are several theories about cholesterol and heart disease. One theory maintains that cholesterol is laid down in the arteries to repair them when they are damaged. They can be damaged by lack of certain nutrients such as Vitamins C & E, B6,the mineral zinc, the fatty acid GLA (gamma linolenic acid) that comes from Omega 3 oils and excessive intake of damaging substances like tobacco smoke, alcohol, envionmental pollution, heqt damaged and rancid fats.
Another theory states that LDL cholesterol is only harmful once it has been oxidized. Cholesterol becomes oxidized when it has been damaged by reactive oxygen molecules called free radicals.
Here are some of the things you can do to reduce the risk of heart disease:
- Do not smoke and keep alcohol intake low.
- Take regular exercise – brisk walking, jogging, cycling away from traffic fumes.
- Avoid simple sugars and refined foods.
- Eat more fiber from whole grains, peas, beans, lentils and fresh vegetables.
- Avoid fried food as they contain cholesterol oxides that damage your arteries.
- Avoid hydrogenated and trans fats in processed foods like most margarines, shortening, processed vegetable oils.
- Use cold pressed virgin olive oil or flax seed oil sparingly but never heat the latter.
- Cook in saturated fats like butter, ghee (clarified butter), coconut butter, beef goose or duck fat which are unlikely to be damaged by heat. They do not cause heart disease.
- Eat some small fish low in mercury or take pure fish oil capsules, fresh unsalted and unprocessed nuts.
- Eat more fresh fruit and vegetables.
- Use stress reduction techniques such as listening to relaxation CD’s or tapes, yoga, tai chi, Qi-Gung, meditation, drumming.
