High blood pressure is a condition where your blood pressure is constantly higher than it should be. It can be controlled by drugs but they all have side effects. So, many people are searching for a natural remedy for high blood pressure instead
The exact cause of high blood pressure or hypertension, as the doctors call it, is not usually known. What is known is that it often occurs where there is narrowing or hardening of the arteries or kidney disease. It is also considered to be a result of lifestyle factors. Simply changing your lifestyle would be one very natural remedy for high blood pressure.
Western lifestyle
High blood pressure affects millions of people in the Western world and the high stress lifestyles and Western diet has a lot to do with it. Stress and tension cause the walls of the arteries to contract and become narrow. A high fat and sugar diet leads to fatty deposits in the arteries. This makes them narrow and harder for blood to pass through them causing the pressure to rise.
Too much salt
Salt is a factor in some cases of increased blood pressure. It leads to fluid retention which puts an additional strain on the heart and circulation system. Food high in salt should be avoided and foods high in potassium like fruit and vegetables eaten instead. People often eat high salt foods unwittingly as it is hidden in food.
Examples of this are foods such as breakfast cereals, packet soup, ready meals and sandwiches. The media have highlighted recently that even some ready prepared salads that you would think were healthy are high in salt.
Increase fruit and vegetables
Diet is very important in the treatment of hypertension and should be the first natural remedy for high blood pressure. A diet that is high in fruit, vegetables and whole grains has been proven to be good for lowering blood pressure. Salt, sugar and fat should be severely restricted.
Regular gentle exercise and weight loss is essential if you are overweight. They help keep the circulation system healthy and will reduce blood pressure. Try swimming, walking or cycling.
Reduce stress
The healthiest diet in the world is no good if you are stressed. Having a calm outlook on life goes a long way in preventing high blood pressure. Practicing relaxation, doing deep breathing exercises regularly, meditation or yoga are all good ways of reducing stress and your blood pressure.

The other day I was hanging out with my girlfriend, and we were waiting for something or other. I’m not exactly sure, as it was one of those things that she just kind of dragged me along to. One of those things that you can’t really get out of.
The problem was when I started falling asleep while the lady was giving the beginning instructions. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t keep my eyes opened. Which seemed strange because I went to bed the same time as always the night before, and woke up the same time on that day.

There is a lot of interest in alternative remedies for high blood pressure today. This is understandable, since most regular medicines for elevated blood pressure have unattractive complications. These side-effects frequently include sleepiness, impaired judgment ( occasionally leading to heavy accidents ), nausea and allergic responses. Most alternative medicines for hypertension offer relief from the problem without these unwanted effects.

Beet juice (beetroot in the UK) has been found to reduce blood pressure in a recent study at a prominent London Hospital. Researchers gave the volunteers half a litre (a little less than a pint) of beet juice to drink. The lowering effect on blood pressure was dramatic and was seen in 3 -4 hours after drinking the juice.
High blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart disease which causes 50% of deaths in Europe. Although figures have been reducing in the last few years 1 in 4 women in the USA still die from it
Practitioners of Natural Medicine have long known the benefit of fresh vegetable juicing on blood pressure. But previously it had been thought to be due to the potassium and antioxidants contained in the juices.
The current research revealed that the blood pressure lowering effect of beet (beetroot) juice was due to the nitrite that was formed from nitrate in the beets by the action of bacteria naturally present in the mouth. Nitrite causes blood vessels to dilate lowering the pressure.
Beet juice has traditionally been used as a natural health remedy to detox and build the blood. It contains betaine, a natural substance, that helps liver function. More recently betaine has been included in nutritional supplements used to lower homocysteine in the blood. this is a substance that damages blood vessels and is considered a heart disease risk.
However I don’t think any natural health practitioner would recommend that anyone should drink 500 ml of neat beet (beetroot) juice because of the strong reactions some people have to it. It is generally mixed with other juices such as carrot, celery and green leaves. The proportion is usually 1 part of beet juice to 4 parts of other vegetable juice.
Professor Ahluwalia said “Our research suggests that drinking beetroot juice, or consuming other nitrate-rich vegetables, might be a simple way to maintain a healthy cardiovascular system, and might also be an additional approach that one could take in the modern day battle against rising
blood pressure”.
So if you are looking for a Natural health Remedy for raised blood pressure you have the proof that beet (beetroot) juicing will help. And natural remedies don’t have the side affects that drugs do.
