Apple cider vinegar has long been promoted as a Natural Health Remedy for all sorts of health problems but recent research suggests that it turns on genes that help you fight fat and lose weight.
In a soon to be published study Japanese researchers found that mice given acetic acid, the main chemical in apple cider vinegar, developed less body fat when given a high fat diet than mice that had the same diet but no acetic acid. They believe that acetic acid turns on genes that produce proteins that help the body break down fats and help with weight loss.
Researchers prove benefits of Folk Remedy
Apple cider vinegar has been used as a folk remedy for many conditions since ancient times but modern research is slowly showing how it works. For example research has suggested that acetic acid, can help control blood pressure and blood sugar.
Previously studies have shown that apple cider vinegar taken before a meal significantly improved the blood glucose and insulin levels in people with non-diabetic insulin resistance. As it cannot get into the cells the body converts it to fat. People with insulin resistance usually have difficulty in losing weight.
Dr DeForest Clinton Jarvis, an American physician, first suggested that people who consumed apple cider vinegar regularly would burn fat instead of store it in a book he wrote about the Natural Health Remedy in 1958. In the 1970’s people started taking it daily with kelp, lecithin and Vitamin B6 which were reputed to speed up the metabolic rate.

The body works best when the cells, tissues and blood are slightly alkaline. A very subtle shift in the pH towards acidity is believed to be the root cause of many health problems including inability to lose weight.
